Landscape photographs

For this task I was asked to explore landscape photography. Within this task I was asked to produce a range of different landscape photographs including rural scenes, city scenes and also night scenes. By covering each of these aspects it means that I have covered the basic shooting locations and conditions for photographing while out and about on location. Here are the photographs I took during this task.

Heres a closer look at some of my favourite photographs from this task.

This is one of the photographs I took while exploring landscape photography. This is a photograph of the yellow light which can be found located next to road crossings. I took this photograph towards the end of the afternoon and at this time of the year, this means that the light had started to drop slightly making the sky a  little dark. I feel that this adds a nice effect to the photograph as the dark clouds contrast with the yellow from the light. The location of this photograph was in baildon village at the crossing and I felt that this would be a good photograph to include for the city landscape images. The lighting within this photograph was provided solely by natural light and I did not use any additional lighting or reflectors in order to create this image. Once I had taken this image I put it into photoshop in order to edit the levels slightly in order to make the yellow of the light pop more. In addition to this, I also cropped the image square so it would be appropriate for an album cover.

This is another one of the photographs which I took while exploring location photography. This is a photograph of trains at Leeds train station taken from beyond the wall, outside of the train station itself. I took this photograph at around 7 in the evening, meaning at this time of year, it was fully dark at this time. With this in mid I thought it would make a good photograph to fit in with the night time location photographs which I was required to take. The location for this photograph was leeds city centre right by the train station and the lighting within this photograph was provided by artificial lighting given off by street lights as it was night time and there was not any natural lighting available for me to use. Once I had taken this photograph I put it into photoshop  and edited the levels slightly in order to try and improve the photograph and I also cropped the image into a square format so it is more appropriate for an album cover.

This is another one of the photographs which I took while exploring location photography. This is a photograph of the outside area near Leeds train station. I took this photograph at the same time as the previous one so the lighting conditions remained the same as within the previous photograph meaning that the lighting within this photograph was provided by artificial lighting given off from street lights as there was no natural lighting available for me to work with. I used this photograph as one of my night time location images. once I had taken this photograph I put it into photoshop  and edited the levels slightly in order to try and improve the photograph and I also cropped the image into a square format so it is more appropriate for an album cover.

This is another of the photographs which I took while exploring landscape photography. This is a photograph a tree losing it’s leaves for winter. This photographs shows a silhouette of the tree against the white background of the cloud filled sky. The location of this photograph is on Shipley glen meaning its perfect for a rural landscape photograph. The lighting for this photograph was provided by only natural lighting as it was during the day and I did not use any additional artificial lighting to light the photograph. Once I had taken this photograph I put it into photoshop and edited the levels slightly in order to darken the tree and increase the contrast between the tree and the sky so the silhouette effect is more prominent within the photograph. In addition to this, I also cropped this image square so it would be more appropriate as an album cover.

This is another of the photographs which I took while exploring landscape photography. This is a photograph of a small waterfall which I found within a stream. The location of this photograph was somewhere within Shipley glen as this is where a chose to take a lot of photographs. When taking this photograph, I used a slow enough shutter speed in order to capture the movement of the waterfall and it falls into the lower part of the stream. I think that this is a nice look for the photograph as it captures the movement very nicely. The lighting for this photograph was provided by only natural lighting and I did not use any additional artificial lighting in order to light this shot. Once I had taken this photograph, I put it into photoshop and altered the levels slightly in order to make the colours pop a little more and I also cropped this image into a square format so it would be more appropriate as an album cover.
